Sisters Embark on a New Chapter: Empowering the Vulnerable in Tanzania

In Mwanza, Tanzania, the average income is just $2.75/ day. For those born into poverty, the ability and opportunities for advancement are limited, if non-existent, and there is often insufficient money for anything other than basic essentials. In response to this dire need in their community, Sr. Rosamystica and the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart wanted to turn their 4 acre property into a farm and community center to provide market space and opportunities for local girls and young women to learn skills including small-scale farming and sewing.

Thanks to SRW's generous donors, Sr. Rosamystica's dream for the land is coming to life. Today, a new borehole has been drilled, providing access to clean water for the entire community. In addition, the Sisters first crops have been planted, including mango and cassava. And, while the new community center construction is underway, 7 women are on their way to gainful employment as they learn sewing and tailoring skills.
Below, Sr. Rosamystica shares her enthusiastic thanks to Sisters Rising Worldwide and our incredible donors who are helping to build what will become a lifeline to the most vulnerable in her community - providing nourishment, opportunity, and security.
